You'll find the TCU Library's DVD/Blu-Ray/VHS collection in the Music/Media Library, on the top floor of the library building (3), above the University Drive entrance. The approximately 11,000+ videos primarily support the academic disciplines, but there's also a sizeable sub-collection of popular film and television titles. Videos and sound recordings are held in closed stacks; when you give call numbers to M/ML staff, your items will be retrieved for you. |

At library.tcu.edu you can use "FrogScholar" to browse for materials including Video/film. To specifically peruse the DVD/Blu-Ray/VHS video collection, select the Advanced Search tab, then click the "Library catalog" button; finally, be sure to select “Material Type” Video/Film. (For some specific search suggestions, see the DVD... box below.) The Music/Media staff is happy to help you find the items you need, and (for faculty) reserve DVD/VHS videos for classes. Please note that some DVD video holdings are European format and require special playback equipment. Blu-Ray players may work in such instances. The Audio/Visual Center within the Music/Media Library has such equipment. |
This handy printable flyer, also available from the Music/Media Library web page, demonstrates how to generate lists of DVD/Blu-Ray/VHS videos using call number and keyword catalog searches, decipher catalog record information, and request a video.
Simply click on "LibAnswers" on the library's home page and type "how do I find foreign language..."
You'll find an FAQ for finding foreign language films and television shows on video. Titles in specific languages are easiest to pinpoint when limiting to the library's physical video collection, also called the Media Library. Click on the FAQ title for instructions. Here also is a list of all non-English-language films on DVD and Blu-ray.
At library.tcu.edu are a number of online web links to lists of videos (mostly DVD or Blu-Ray) according to type, release date and several popular film genres. The links can be found by clicking on the LibAnswers tab and typing in a query with "popular films?," or by this route:
LibAnswers tab - click "browse all the library FAQs," then expand "Topics" and select Popular films; click the FAQ title ("How can I...")
