The ability to find words together, somewhere in a document
- Two or more words may be a phrase that is commonly used and indexed as such. Ex: gene therapy
- You may want to enclose the phrase in double or single (Embase) quotes. Ex: “gene therapy”
- Sometimes phrase searching can be too specific when your search needs to be more sensitive. Consider that you might be losing valuable results if you enclose your phrase with quotes.
- Also, some platforms/databases automatically create the quotations when you search on a single line. For Ex: Ebsco Host Databases
