Search Strategies

AND: Morrison AND criticism--will locate resources containing both terms.

OR: Gender OR Woman will look for both, but they do not have to both be present

Use * (shift 8): Instead of woman use wom*n ( woman and women) or nation* ( national, nationality, nationhood, and nationalism!).

Quotes: "women writers" or "African American" finds the phrase

Criticism or Interpretation  are great search terms for literature. Use this with "Toni Morrison"

For most databases, start with a simple search, using 2 or 3 terms.
