WWI at TCU
The First World War began in July of 1914 and lasted until November of 1918, with over thirty countries taking part in the conflict. As the war began, and primarily took place, in Europe, the United States was late to enter the affray, waiting until April of 1917. In response to entering the war, the nation as a whole mobilized to answer the call, including the students, faculty, and staff of TCU.

Horned Frogs at War
World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War brought widespread changes to American society and to Texas Christian University. This exhibit documents the particular ways that the campus mobilized students for war and military service and the ways that the wars shaped the lives of Horned Frog students.

World War I Poster Collection
The World War I Poster Collection consists of 19 posters, a sampling of the approximately 1,400 war propaganda posters produced by the Committee on Public Information (CPI) starting in 1914. Famous artists and illustratiors of the day donated their time and talents to design works of art for the CPI under the leadership of George Creel and artistic director Charles Gibson. The posters promote a patriotic duty to join the armed forces, purchase Liberty Bonds and stamps, conserve food, and promote citizenship.

John E. Wilson Photographs
The John Wilson Photographs collection consists of over 400 printed photographs with captions, negatives, and glass lantern slides. The collection also includes four small paper photo albums. The photographs document the work of US Expeditionary Force in North Russia in 1919. The captions retain John Wilson's original spellings. The North Russia Transportation Corps Expeditionary Forces, consisting of the 167th (Operations) and 168th (Maintenance) companies, were sent to Murmansk in March and April 1819 to operate and maintain the Murmansk Railway.
