Finding Books in Our Catalog

We have hundreds of print and ebooks in our collection regarding World War I - the key is knowing how to find them!

World War I went by many different names which can make searching a little more tedious.  The most common names are :

  • World War I
  • First World War
  • WWI
  • Great War
  • The War to End All Wars
  • War of the Nations
  • World War, 1914-1918  (Current standard Subject Term)

To initiate a search in the catalog, select "Library Catalog" and choose "More catalog search options".

Choose the "Advanced Search".  Be sure to put the search terms in quotes to narrow the number of results.  If you leave the search for "Words Anywhere" it will search all fields in the record giving you more hits in the catalog.  Note that if you prefer a particular format type or desire items from a particular collection you have the option to choose that here.
